Why did Bill Clinton veto a bill to allow drilling in Alaska? Did he prefer U.S. to import oil at higher cost?

[Would Obama veto such legislation too, as he has promised? Or will he buckle to popular opinion?]

In 1995, Republicans prepared to take up the battle again and included a provision for ANWR in the federal budget. President Bill Clinton vetoed the entire budget and expressed his intention to veto any other bill that would open ANWR to drilling. Why did Bill Clinton veto a bill to allow drilling in Alaska? He has invested heavily in sugar cane farms in Brazil (ethanol). There is your answer on Bill Clinton.

Obama wants us to follow the instruction and direct of the UN. Only with their permission will he allow drilling for oil in America. Why did Bill Clinton veto a bill to allow drilling in Alaska? Did he prefer U.S. to import oil at higher cost?
Oil is traded on a global market, and there isn't enough in our Alaskan reserves to greatly affect the global price that everyone pays.

Oil companies would like to drill there so they can sell the oil at the current high global price or higher, not because they think drilling would bring down that price.

If they thought drilling in Alaska would bring the global price of oil down by any significant amount, they wouldn't want to do it.

Because, believe it or not, Exxon is not a charity.

Our remaining domestic oil reserves are a national asset of great strategic value They should be recognized as such. They should be conserved as much as possible, not drilled and sold off as quickly as possible, for the sake of unnecessary consumption.

If Americans are convinced they'll die if they can't commute eighty miles a day in upholstered farm equipment, let them find other ways of supporting that lifestyle. There are many alternative technologies available for development.
Yes, Bill Clinton lobbies for several Arab interests, though he doesn't carry the label and makes much much more.

John Murtha however simply takes cash under the table. That would be ABSCAM John. Then there is Jhimmi the Dhimmi, who is owned lock, stock and peanut farm by Hammas.
Not only would he not allow ANWR, he placed our largest clean coal deposits in Utah off limits because the Ryadi family owned interests in and imported low sulfur coal. The same family from Indonesia that made illegal contributions to Clinton.

Bill Clinton caused innumerable problems that we now must face today. Anwar, Osama bin Laden, terrorism, massive reduction in the US military.
If Clinton had signed that bill we would not be in the energy crisis we are in now.
the democrats are owned by the eco freaks.
