Isn't it time we start drilling for oil in the continental shelf off of Florida?

And up in Alaska?

1. We desperately need energy independence, oil is probably gonna hit $100/barrel soon.

2. China is investing $1 billion and teaming up with Cuba to drill for oil off the coast of Florida. Shouldn't we benefit from it and get to it before they do?

3. We aren't allowed to build new refineries.

4. Aren't allowed to build any new nuclear plants.

5. Ethanol is a very inefficient alternative and requires a lot of water to refine it into fuel.

6. The environmentalists are trying to limit our use of coal.

7. While wind farms and solar energy are both clean and renewable sources. Problem is, that both of them are inefficient, especially when compared to our energy demands.

Isn't it time we just tell these environmentalists off, and just go drill for the damn oil and build some new refineries? Also, utilize the most efficient, clean source of energy in nuclear? At least until we can find a more efficient renewable energy source?Isn't it time we start drilling for oil in the continental shelf off of Florida?
I've been saying that forever. Alaska is especially abundant in oil.

Ethanol was also proved inefficient because it's driving food costs up the more we use it, so it's going to force people into choosing between filling their cars or feeding their families.

Solar and wind are nice indeed, if you're only running an Amish village. It will not supply a metropolitan area - period. They're woefully limited by location and weather patterns too.

But, we can ';thank'; the environmental extremists for our heavy reliance on other countries. They are what stands between drilling our own oil and building more nuclear sites. Apparently some of them think that rare patches of grass are more important than humans being able to afford to eat this month.Isn't it time we start drilling for oil in the continental shelf off of Florida?
One of the reasons oil is so expensive is partly because of the value of the dollar. (The Canadian Loonie is actually worth slightly more than the US dollar now) We just need to get off of oil as a fossil fuel completely. I do agree we could use nuclear power plants. However, oil is a finite supply that doesn't help the environment. Ask China how they are doing with their environment contributing to their burgeoning health crisis. We also need to limit the use of coal OR find a clean way to burn it and trap CO2 gasses.
The notion has already been entertained and promptly shot down by the environmentalists. The same folks who didn't want to remove the brush that caused the fires in Southern California.
And you actually think that if we drill off the Florida coast that gas will be cheaper? Think man!!!

The oil business is global!!!! Just because its on our shores the same companies that are charging you 3$ a gallon now will charge you just as much if not more!!!

We must seek alternative sources....no other sensible choice!
Big Oil exec's have third homes on Florida shore, they dont want that, they want more drilling in AK
They are using slant drilling to attack the oil deposits within the territorial limits of the U.S. We have oil derrick's on the coast of Santa Barbra and Long Beach in Ca, for years. There have been no major leaks or spills. The one off the coast of Long Beach is less than a quarter mile and is made to look like a tropical island of sorts. Whats not funny is Al Gore engineered the sale of the Elk Hills oil reserves in Ca, when he was in office and Clinton approved it. It sold to Armand Hammer's oil company of which Al Gore is a major stock holder.
YES! We should drill ASAP! I liked you other points as well.
Yea. It's about time we get off foreign oil.
You are exactly right on all points. New refineries, and nuclear plants make so much sense.
