While I support drilling for oil off-shore, I'm not sure about using the ANWR as it is thought that drilling there would reduce our dependence on foreign oil only slightly.American oil companies Shouldbe allowed to drill for oil off shore and in An war?
Twenty years ago I would have said no to drilling in ANWR, today we must. We should also drill in the Outer Continental Shelf. We have plenty of oil, we just need to get it out. Its a necessary task that, while not popular, is essential. The only suitable course of action is to drill everywhere, cut taxes, flood the market, and take ten to twenty years to devise a synthetic fuel that will run in current engines. Americans can't afford new expensive cars that run on hydrogen! We need new fuels, not new cars.
I have no opinion on off shore... But ANWAR... BETTER FOR USA???

At the top of page 7 it says that when oil cost 27 dollars a barrel (note: it costs 5 times as much today) that drilling in ANWAR will lower the cost of gasoline 30-50 CENTS A BARREL!!! And, we would not start seeing all of the 30-50 cents until the year 2025 if we started drilling in 2010.
NOT A GALLON - A BARRELL!!!
The report also clearly states that OPEC nations could easily restrict their output to raise the price of a barrel of oil so that consumers do not see that savings... and that was back when oil cost 27 dollars a barrel!!!
Right now gasoline costs 130 dollars a barrel. Drilling in ANWAR WILL DO NOTHING.
I dont know about off shore drilling in the oceans. But drilling in this protected natural wonder will do absolutely nothing for you at the pump.
