How can any justifiy not drilling in Alaska for oil?

there seems to be A LOT of people who are strongly against drilling oil in the Alaskan preserve.

They say ';what about all those animals and their habitats';

It think it silly.

if you really cared about animals you wouldn't eat the beef at mcdonalds. You wouldn't eat the chicken at KFC. think about how much beef, chicken, venison, hot dogs, ham, turkery, we buy every day at the grocery store to eat.

when we kill those animals, you not killing ants, bee, rats, insects or any kind of life form we consider to be unaware pests. We are killing millions, billions of cows, pigs, dear, chicken, turkeys, etc. every year to eat.

why would it be any different if we made it unlivable for a moderate number of animals to habitate in that part of alaska so that we can access the oil rich region? How can any justifiy not drilling in Alaska for oil?
Do you believe that the reason why, the US Congress don't want to drill for oil in the state of Alaska are the wild animals there,, that is the excuse but not the reason. Is the same reason the government doesn't support of making a law for the auto companies to put out a vehicle that doesn't use gasoline. The reason are the countries that have oil and the American companies that control it. Do you imagine if we the USA drill in Alaska what will happened to all of these countries that have oil,, the OPEC, their wealth will disappear, imagine Saudi Arabia, they will become what they used to be before the oil rush, people of the desert. This is one of the reason and the other is these countries are paying big money to the US government in order to prevent the drilling in Alaska. Money is talking more than sense in Washington. How can any justifiy not drilling in Alaska for oil?
We have the resources and we need to tap into those sources so we dont' have to hear the ';war is about oil'; lie all of the time.
The impact on our increasing fuel needs will be minimal. There is a difference between eating live stock raised for food and damaging natural environments.

Mainly it makes us lazy. We need to concentrate on finding alternatives to fossil fuels, not looking for every last drop oil before we get serious about alternate energies.
They don't want to disturb the Caribou, or something equally rediculous.
Totally agree with you!!
Yes who needs to preserve wildlife for future generations just so we can have oil for the next thirty years. Nature, Bah hum bug, our future generations wont need it, they will be happy living in a world where everything is concrete or an oil derrik.
I was surprised no one had yet mentioned how the caribou population, as well as other animals, went up as a result of the Alaskan pipeline. It actually was a change for the better when it came to the wildlife.
1) They think caribou %26amp; musk oxen are more important than people.

2) They (wrongly) thing drilling in ANWR will destroy the environment.

3) They want us to be more dependent on foreign oil.
Give it a rest...there is actually no REAL meat in fast food.......
I think when gas gets to $5 a gallon and people can't afford to keep warm in the winter that the animals in Alaska will have to learn to cope with oil rigs and pipelines.

You make excellent points!!
but the soft tailed, horned slugmoth may become extinct! If that happens, it would be like 'natural selection' or something! We can't let darwins theory of evolution continue to process!
Oil is like a drug addict getting its next fix. The answer is not to violate every last square inch of the planet in search of something. Besides were you aware that at most the reserves in ANWAR would quench our thirst for oil for 6 months? That will do little to reduce dependency. The answer is to send the addict to rehab and get our economy off oil.
the animal reasoning is just a farce.. the real reason it's not going to be drilled is because the US wants to have the final stock pile of oil in the world.. plain and simple... and the powers that be are just using the people who want to ';protect the animals'; as a cop out ...
