Oil Conservation or drilling?

The US is addicted to oil. We need to end our dangerous oil dependence on the mideast. What would be the MOST effective in doing this?. Conservation or drilling? Any data?Oil Conservation or drilling?
This answer could get long. But here goes. The problem in this country is not a lack of oil. I know of wells in Northern Michigan that have oil down the whole and they are capped if we needed oil it is there. I am sure that there are other areas of the country with the same thing. The Oil company's are gaming us. But that is really not the problem. Good conservation should be practiced regardless of if it is a solution or not. Just the word conservation of anything deserves respect. But that is not a solution either. The truth is we need to find a replacement to oil. John Kennedy said we would put a man on the moon in a decade. We did it in 8 years, American ingenuity and Germain Scientist created an atmosphere of success. We could have another way to propel, light, heat, and probably any other thing that oil does now. We need an commitment like Kennedy's to get this done. I am afraid to say good bye to the American car company's but if they do not get on the stick thy will we be done. I would like to fill my car with water and return clean water to the world. In answer to your fine question, my idea of it is neither.Oil Conservation or drilling?
First the earth is NOT running out of resources that BS is said every few years but it hasn't happened. Conservation will help but I agree that a new energy source (not bio, not wind, not any big budget government project). I have been hearing about wind for most of my life and how much has the government poured in that rat hole and others. Even drilling is only a temporary fix.

Separate data from the American Petroleum Institute showed crude supplies down by 3.7 million barrels, gasoline supplies down by 2.3 million barrels and distillates down by 588,000 barrels. Earth runs out of most things iin 50 years or less. Thats clean water and food too. Have a nice day!
No data, sorry. I do, however, love your Pharaoh hat.
Oil conservation will help, but not the solution.

Biofuels will help, but not the solution.

Development of efficient; affordable; alternative sources of power is the only solution that is workable for the long term.
