We can't drill our way out of the energy crisis. Drilling will only cause prices to go down about a nickel over the next decade at the best. It's not going to have huge longterm effects except on the environment. Even if the US drilled all over the country we'd only have 2-3% of the needed national supply. We can't depend on oil. NO.....The biggest problem they have got is enough refining


capacity..There is plenty of oil but no refining capacity..


After Hurricane Katrina Refineries were destroyed along the Gulf Coast.There had already been a major explosion in Texas not long before Katrina that also reduced refining capacity.


People don't realise Iran exports oil but imports petrol as doesn't have a refinery..


It takes up to 5 years to build a refinery..


SO ..NO you can't drill your way out of trouble..

At the top of page 7 it says that when oil cost 27 dollars a barrel (note: it costs 5 times as much today) that drilling in ANWAR will lower the cost of gasoline 30-50 CENTS A BARREL!!! And, we would not start seeing all of the 30-50 cents until the year 2025 if we started drilling in 2010.





NOT A GALLON - A BARRELL!!!





The report also clearly states that OPEC nations could easily restrict their output to raise the price of a barrel of oil so that consumers do not see that savings... and that was back when oil cost 27 dollars a barrel!!!





Right now gasoline costs 130 dollars a barrel. Drilling in ANWAR WILL DO NOTHING.





I dont know about off shore drilling in the oceans. But drilling in this protected natural wonder will do absolutely nothing for you at the pump.
No, and if refinery capacities are not increased you will accomplish nothing.

The US oil companies are raising the price to provide more money for their off shore drilling ventures. There is lots of oil to be found there.
There will never be enough oil for the gluttons in America. Alternative energy is the answer. Money should go there.
It certainly wont hurt. It buys us time for alternative energy to get up and running.
