Drilling for oil is not as bad anymore?.......We do it in the Texas Gulf?

If I recall correctly when there was an oil spill a long time ago in the 80's or 90's. There was a few oil spots in the beach. And occasionally a step on an oil blob. The fish tasted the same and there is no visible trace of the mess anymore. And todays, technology has advance alot more making accidental clean ups even safer. And if congress passes a stricter protocol on standards and safety whats the big deal? We can even regulate, and prohibit, the drilling to a couple of offshore states with wildlife refuge, parks, and even populated areas.Drilling for oil is not as bad anymore?.......We do it in the Texas Gulf?
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ripped apart over a hundred oil platforms, but no major oil spills. The technology now is so advanced you don't have the same problems that lead to these bans. Back in the day of dollar gas it made sense now it makes no sense we need to drill to our freedom.Drilling for oil is not as bad anymore?.......We do it in the Texas Gulf?
The enviro's have a strong grip on the Democrat party and to a certain extent the Republican party. The technology is light years away from the technology of the 80's but the Sierra Club wields a big stick in party politics and does not care to understand that our technology has vastly improved over the years.... Soon the people will demand something be done, as the price of gas increases so do the number of people who say we should be drilling for our own supply here in the US.
They can do it with almost no risk, and only minor problems when there is leakage.

Democrats are blocking because they know that if we boldly say that we will start drilling and building refineries immediately, then gas prices will come down overnight in hopes that we would change our minds. And they cannot have anything look good for the Bush administration...yes the dems are playing politics again.

cantcu...and if wackos like you would not have blocked us during the Clinton admin, we would be getting that oil now. 10 years from now, if we have not drilled and gas is the $12.00 that Obama said he could see, you would come out and say ';It would take 10 years before it made a difference.';
The big deal is it can destroy our Eco-system and it isn't necessary! By the time they got anything out of the ground peoples habits will have changed and if the oil companies quite buying up patents, we will probably have many cars that do not rely at all on gas!

To risk your Eco-system on some oil that you don't even know will effect the price of gas, or even if they do get it that they will lower their prices is not worth the risk.

In addition, the US Supreme Court just let Exxon off the hook for almost all of the money due to the Valdez spill. They totally ruined a whole area for decades and got away with it to a large extent. That sends a message to the oil companies they can do anything they want as the Supreme Court will let them off the hook! I am sure they will be cutting corners since the decision. I know California doesn't want the rigs, nor does Alaska! Nor do I!

If you aren't a neocon you should have learned by now who gets left holding the bag when corporations make a mess of our planet. Has Love Canal reopened yet?

Cost of a candy-bar go down?
